Data Curation Librarian at Penn State University Libraries

Alaina Pearce is the Data Curation Librarian at Penn State University Libraries. In this role, she serves as one of the data curators for ScholarSphere, Penn State’s institutional repository. Alaina also reviews data management plans and provides expert guidance, training, and consultation on a range of topics including data management planning, active data management, reproducible research workflows using R, data visualization, and data publication. She is also the director of the Cognitive Neuroscience of Eating and Obesity (CogNEATO) Lab at Penn State, which investigates the causes and consequences of pediatric obesity.
Before joining Penn State Libraries, Alaina earned her PhD in Psychology with a concentration in Lifespan Cognitive Neuroscience from Georgetown University. After her PhD, she joined Penn State as a postdoc in nutritional neuroscience and then opened the CogNEATO lab as an Assistant Research Professor at Penn State. In addition to her research interests in pediatric obesity, Alaina is interested in advancing open science, reproducible research pipelines, and metadata standards.
